Life from the time immemorial regardless of region, race, available technology, political and economic prowess has often experienced and will continue to witness the unprecedented actions of selected few over diverse sectors, law and order, rights and wrongs, innovations, self-discovery, technological breakthroughs among a host of several other groundbreaking events. These radical set of being has been called by many names like innovator, legend, role model, a game changer, even god but for the purpose of this article, we prefer an astute term – change maker.
A changemaker is more often than not resolute, principled with a specific ideology to effect an alteration in a cycle of norms. Though, most times seem like a lone ranger but hardly so, as conglomerated efforts of passive and active people sharing such belief postulate the visible influence putting a personality at the center of the outcome. Education coupled with vast knowledge are efficient wheels for a change maker to thrive nevertheless cannot be limited by lack of formal education as he or she is never tired of speaking, making it extremely difficult not to be heard, embrace failure relentlessly until their idea turn to a voice to reckon with, they tackle the hardest problems head-on.
These are traits that can be seen in anyone with a vision of making a positive impact and identify problems as an opportunity to build a lasting solution, empowers generations to compete with the inevitable change in time. A changemaker bridges the gap between a set of theory and its application to make a visible difference, build the confidence of the younger generation and present hope.
Moreover, it is not a function of age, status, being educated or famous to be a change maker. They are inbuilt leaders who naturally attract followers and disciples. They are all around us – in religious houses, educational institutions, political arena, market squares, commercial centers, civil and uniform jobs, et al. the question is, are you a change maker?
