Human development which is always confused with economic growth empowers people to participate in the improvement of their own well-being, live a life of absolute freedom on their decisions, actions, and ways of life.
It portrays how economic policy has influenced their quality of life and helps in grouping countries as developed, developing, or underdeveloped. The core of human development is the concept of capabilities which has the basics as good health, access to knowledge, and a decent material standard of living. These “capabilities” are the determinant of living a fulfilled life or not, realizing human potential and can either be expanded or constrained by an individual or constituted effort and conditions of our society.

Nina is hungry, exhausted from balance sheets and her nagging boss, drained in her sweat and above all, she is stuck in a terrible traffic. Well, this is a usual thing if you live on the mainland and work on the Island in Lagos, Nigeria.
As she let her mind wander and glanced around in a hysteric manner, she observed a group of tired men hurriedly drinking from sachets bags (locally called pure water), which they landed on the ground after few seconds of quenching their thirst. Then, she gazed through the watercourse (gutter) that separated the road, it was filled with plastics of different shapes, colors, and sizes. She saw bottles, cans, disposables plates, plastic spoons, and sachet bags, nylon bags, etc…

You are on your couch right now, thinking about how much of a disappointment you have been. You have not been able to do something phenomenal with your life, it seems existence is nothing but a joke. You wonder how the others have been able to get that silicon valley job and you still haven’t even got an interview to be an assistant. Still, you have so many choices, you could decide to sit there and wallow in self-pity and pain or you could decide to get up. The former is easier said than done.
