Talking about the trade show from last week, it was quite an interesting moment for us. The general idea of the trade show was devoted to women seeking fulfillment in their careers, starting a new business project, or those who want to understand the benefits of time management personal development.
Reconversion implies changing into something prevalent. We realized that some of the women had great positions but are exasperated and hence desire to take an adventure of discovery into their passion, latent craves and desires.
One of the conferences that captivated us was byMadame Maita Leclercq who spoke about « le temps d’un sourir: revelatrice de potential par la photothérape » translates into english “A time to smile: Understanding the potential of Therapeutic Photography”. It’s a session dedicated to producing positive change in people using series of photography session. These methods can be divided into two: Therapeutic Photography and Phototherapy.
Therapeutic Photography which is usually a self-induced form of therapy without the need of a professional counselor or a therapist. Therefore there is no therapeutic session, in fact, it is the act of photography as an activity itself that serves as the therapy. It is important to note, however, that therapeutic photography is not confined to taking photos. It also includes viewing photos, posing for photos, discussing or talking about photos, and imagining or visualizing photos.
Whereas Phototherapy techniques use personal photos, images shot by other people, and photo albums of the person concerned in therapy practices. The photos are used to help a person express feelings, thoughts, emotions, and even remember important incidents that are sometimes difficult to express in real words. It is important to note that the main aim of the phototherapy is to assist other people ie their customers who need help resolving personal emotional problems, this results in self-exploration and eventual healing. Indeed the mechanism of change is the « Camera ».
As a matter of fact, therapeutic photography and phototherapy are new techniques of therapy whose aim is to produce positive change in people, it could be of an individual suffering from anxiety, social exclusion, loneliness, pains, sorrow. The objective is to express through photography activities.
The Trade-show was quite interesting nevertheless, it’s focus was dedicated to women who have or had a career not necessarily undergraduates or young girls. Also, the exhibitions of training and programs were mainly executive program targeting a certain age range and group.

This is an insight into why we shouldn’t be so quick to condemn women’s love for taking pictures and in fact, inculcate the habit. An informative article on the importance of freezing memories for psychological gratification of our minds and finally serving as medicine for a sane environment.
Thumb up.
