Fifa Best Player, another break of the dominance or return of Titan

On 24th September 2018, Luca Modric was named the best player in the world ahead of Mohamed Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo to the award.

Modric’s win broke the Lionel Messi-Ronaldo duopoly of the last 10 year having won the Champions League with Real Madrid and then played a major role in Croatia’s run to the World Cup final where they were beaten by France.

The award is based on achievements from the period of July of the preceding year to July of the present year, with an initial 10-man shortlist compiled by a panel of experts which is then open to four voting panels made up fans, journalists, national coaches, and coaches.

After this, the list will then be cut down into three final contenders by the end July. For this year, the three Best Fifa Men’s Player finalist included  Virgil van Dijk, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lionel Messi was top scorer in last season’s Champions League and won the European Golden Shoe as the continent’s top scorer. Cristiano Ronaldo was a Nations League winner with Portugal and the top scorer at the finals and Virgil van Dijk was voted man-of-the-match as Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur to win the Champions League for the 6th time.

Van Dijk is the favorite to replace last year’s winner Luka Modric after he was named the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year.

Ronaldo and Messi have both won the award five times, and it remains to be seen whether or not Van Dijk can beat them to the prestigious accolade or if one of the superstar duo will become the first player to win the prize a sixth time. We shall keep our fingers crossed until the announcement of the winner tonight. Who is your choice?

  • Say No to Suicide

    Say No to Suicide

Suicide, a serial killer whose only weapon is its victim’s mind, an outlaw who never get prosecuted, he creeps into your thoughts and corrupt the mind…

No matter how the world treats you, Say no to suicide

No matter how frustrating the situation is…

No matter how much that word hurts..

No matter how discouraging your parents are…

No matter how far your mates have  gone  and you feel left behind,

No matter how inconsiderate your siblings, husband, wife, children

                 Might be,

When your family turn against you…

When the whole world neglect you, Say no to suicide

When it seems there is no one on your side, No to suicide

When you feel like giving up…

When you run out of strength…

                  When the situation overwhelms you…

When it seems the problem is unending…

When you fall and no one to help you…

When your pillar of support turns against you…

When your last ray of hope is lost, Say no to suicide

                 If you lose the war,

The people you are trying to please, will say worst at your funeral

The house you don’t want to lose, will be sold eventually to a new family

To the friend you are trying to please, your death will be meaningless

That friend you think has gone ahead of you, will still be above you

The world you see as hopeless, will give hope to others

That situation you see as frustrating won’t mean a thing

That situation is not your end, pick up the pieces

Be happy with yourself no matter what, Your happiness is not dependent on anyone

The world may neglected you, But GOD will always stand by you

    Never give up on God

That life is not yours, It was given to you by your creator

                      YOU CAN’T END IT

                      Remember,

                      GOD created you

Remember GOD as that last resort.

  • Adultism

    Adultism

Adultism just like childism, ageism, are discrimination against a particular set or oppression of people based on the age group the victims belong to. It is an indirect and mental attacks, mapping out how they should behave, communicate, react, dress by the majority group with social power and privilege whom fall outside the victims age bracket.

Adultism according to a source could be explained as behaviors and attitudes based on the assumption that adults are better than young people, and entitled to act upon young people without their permission or agreement. This treatment is reinforced by social institutions , parents and organizational structures, who often abuse the power that adults have over their children.

  • South Africa and Xenophobia

    South Africa and Xenophobia

During the inauguration of President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela the country’s first black head of state and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election, he said

We dedicate this day to all the heroes and heroines in this country and the rest of the world who sacrificed in many ways and surrendered their lives so that we could be free. Their dreams have become reality. Freedom is their reward. We are both humbled and elevated by the honour and privilege that you, the people of South Africa, have bestowed on us, as the first President of a united, democratic, non-racial and non-sexist government.

We understand it still that there is no easy road to freedom. We know it well that none of us acting alone can achieve success. We must therefore act together as a united people, for national reconciliation, for nation building, for the birth of a new world.

Let there be justice for all.

Let there be peace for all.

Let there be work, bread, water and salt for all.

Let each know that for each the body, the mind and the soul have been freed to fulfil themselves.Never, never and never again shall it be that this beautiful land will again experience the oppression of one by another and suffer the indignity of being the skunk of the world. Let freedom reign. The sun shall never set on so glorious a human achievement! God bless Africa!Thank you.

You look at South Africa today and you can’t but feel the late president Mandela was only speaking for himself. South Africans today are tribalistic towards one another, a certain tribe believes they own the country and other matters less. Consequently, that has been extended to foreign nationals who fought and supported South Africa during the harsh years of apartheid.

The Xenophobic attack on May 11, 2008 at Alexandra, Johannesburg is still fresh in memories, a lot of nationalities especially Nigerians lost their lives and properties. The reason given by the South Africans is that foreigners are stealing their jobs, check the statistics below:

    Population of South Africans is approximately 57 million people;

Unemployment rate in South Africa is 29 percent, which makes about 8.6 million South Africans, forecasted to rise to about 10 million before end of the year 2019.

There are only 2.2 million foreigners in South Africa

The question is, how can 2.2 million people be the reason for unemployment of 8.6 million people?

On July 20 2008, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu offered his apology to victims of the violence during a mass before thousands of worshippers.“Those who have been victims, we want to tell them we are sorry and we will not repeat this.We won’t tolerate this,”

He said, recalling the protection neighbouring countries offered militants struggling to end the nation’s apartheid regime.

We were welcomed as exiles, as freedom fighters in those African lands.

Could we really have forgotten so soon?”

May I include that the motive behind the recent violence and looting of properties was not xenophobic but this is difficult to prove because South Africans have shown the attitude many times in the past among themselves and to foreign nationals. A borderless Africa is the way to our unity, our unity is non-negotiable.

  • Conscious Living and Personal Growth

    Conscious Living and Personal Growth

The universe is such a beautiful miracle with its conglomeration of inestimable elements, features, wonders, puzzles, creatures, hosts of other discoveries and the most amazing of all – its environment. It takes a creature with a brain, no matter how limited to identify and observe consciously what the universe offers, its effects, how to maximize or minimize its influence and dictate how it affects his or her personal life.

Thus conscious living as some writers agreed involves questioning negative behaviors, actions, inactions, habits and substitute them with more positive ones. Consciousness empowers you with amazing sensation, motivation, and control over your life and situation,

On the other hand, to embrace personal growth means to relentlessly work on self to improve and develop with age, advancing in wisdom, knowledge, and self-actualization. Personal growth is a way of evolving through a determined mindset and calculated attempts to overcome challenges and obstacles.

    The Future We Want!

Trees are one of the most important parts of the forest ecology, they are known to be part of the world’s most efficient repository of carbon monoxide: the greenhouse gas known for the increase in the planet’s temperature and the source of climate change. When a tree is fell, it’s canopy which blocks the sun rays during the day and retains heat at night can no longer serve its purpose.

Through the last months, a couple of forests including the Amazonian forest in Brazil has been caught up with record-breaking fires. In Brazil alone, there have been more than 80,000 fires so far this year.

  • FriendZone 80:20

    FriendZone 80:20

It was a beautiful afternoon, a sunny day, sitting on a balustrade, gazing aimlessly at nothing. A so-called boring day I thought then, my friend surfaced, stressed-up, pale, maybe weary and obviously unhappy she was.

So, I stood up and hugged her then I said – you have been like this for a while – WHY? She looked into my eyes not with surprise though, held my hands tight and said there’s this great guy she so much love, whom never made any move even as she had waited long enough but the closest thing He did was an “old schoolboy humor” so, I sat, offered her a chair and whisper a question – “WHAT’S THE RATIO”?

She answered, 80:20 against herself then, I smiled and said Inverse is constant in the Law of Feelings and Love

Alas! 20 at times maybe much more greater than 80 and the waiting is what makes it more romantic. He might have said it one thousand times but not to your taste, had recoiled into his shell each time and thought of another approach maybe that’s why He had always motivated you into a lighter mood. Let the dog be fierce and the cat be cunny, no matter what the problem is, their friendship is still intact. And suddenly, she stood up, loud she screamed those words “haven’t you punished me enough!”? “Why do you always torture me with words!”?

I was mesmerized and dumbfounded as I watched her broke down and cried, I thought within myself “why am I so scared, why so stupid? Why am I no man enough? Why haven’t I summoned the courage to say those words that gave me sleepless night?

I moved closer to her, touch her shoulder while she runs into my open arms and shed those tears of both joy and pain though I almost lost what I crave for most in life but, it’s all coming back to me.

I looked into her eyes and said, “The 20 is truly much greater than the 80, each time you looked at me, there’s so much that you don’t see. If I can grow in your heart then the harvest is yours” As I locate her lips with mine, giving her my words with sweet saliva and so, she said, I will believe you when you say that you love me, with deep emotion, I echoed the words and woke-up.

    But the feeling is real.
